xkcd 2539 always bothered me because I don't actually trust my flinch reflex at all. I routinely collide with stationary objects in familiar locations, so really the only safe option under those circumstances is to remain perfectly still. When we did that experiment at school everyone praised me for my nerves of steel, but in reality I thought that flinching was a guaranteed way to get smacked in the face.
