Thank you so much! This was actually made in dedication to a favorite site of mine that closed in 2007 called Caroline's Horrorgifs (originally located at users.skynet.be/carolines.gifs), the inspiration is quite direct

this site meant the world to me as a child and when it closed, I was devastated, and vowed to create a horror gif site just as amazing as Caroline's Horrorgifs. That became horrorgifs.neocities.org , and also this page was made as a test for new features in the Hallowdaze Manor (https://hallowdaze.neocities.org/manor) and you will see it uses the same "engine" as the dark ruins, so you may enjoy the manor as well!
