I had a bug where every so often the touchscreen and the keyboard drivers would get all screwy, and I wouldn't be able to login to the desktop unless I restarted to potentiallty fix the problem
I tried reinstalling the kernel and fucking around in grub, but after doing that and changing some stuff around, the problem persisted, so I just ditched it and went with the generic linux kernel. I don't super need the touch screen anyway, just thought it may be fun
some basic shit: Debian is my favorite cause its super stable and doesn't change much (i am autism). Gnome is my fav DE because its really pretty and the way workspaces work makes my brain happy. I like ubuntu. Arch is fun but overrated for my usecase. I am never going to use Gentoo as a daily driver OS.
other basic shit: gatekeepers can go to hell. Linux is linux is linux. Hell, ANY FOSS OS is better than Windows and MacOS. I want more people to use the linux desktop. I want the linux desktop to grow. Gatekeeping makes it hard for that to happen.
Archinstall is fun and good. So long as you are able to install arch without it at least once, there's no reason to install Arch any other way at this point with how effective archinstall has gotten. Before I knew about it, I rarely did installs of Arch just because they are time consuming. Now, I have arch on several systems, not just a couple, solely because archinstall is so efficient
I don't like auto tiling window managers. I've tried awesomeWM, i3, hyprland, etc., and none of them really clicked with me, no matter how much I configured them. My favorite of those was awesomeWM, but even that I didn't enjoy as much as the manually tiling that comes with Ubuntu and the like
IceWM is GODTIER when it comes to low end or old hardware. I fucking love IceWM and it is on every single shitty computer that isn't running original software like Windows XP etc.
I don't care for Linux Mint all that much. Although I always recommend it for new users who are coming from Windows, I don't reallty like it for my systems. If I want Ubuntu minus snaps, I'd just use Fedora or pop!_os
