the ocean floor hotel was inspired by both visual aesthetic and also music. things like vaporwave and mallsoft. visually i was very enraptured by brutalist architecture and also the idea of manmade structures reclaimed by nature. in ponyo, when the island floods, there were so many scenes of the ancient fish swimming through the once populated town. i found something about that really struck me.

it was born from a nihilistic attitude. it was crazy that i didnโt find yokohama kaidashi sooner into my project, but after reading it i realized my idea came from the same pot.
