>history Maybe I should be shut up and shouldn't write more but let me say this to you. I have always thought of art as a solution of existential loneliness -- "In the end, you will all die and probably would be completely forgotten so why do you live at all?". By making arts, you might be able to live an eternal life via your works. That's how I usually view art. So in that sense, I just didn't want you to die.

Yes please do shut up

Please stop projecting your views of art onto other people, their hobbies, and how they chose to spend their time. Giving unsolicted negative criticism is very rude.

Not here to speak for manyface but... everthing dies eventually- be it in 100 years, 1,000 years and so on. Not that you're wrong for wanting preservation but we can't predict the future in any capacity. I've wondered why bother living too but then I remember stuff like my favorite video games and helping my family out financially. You gotta live for your own reasons.

I think you should address the "existential loneliness" that you feel.

@thricegreat you are being very weird. we are not going to die via nurturing a healthy relationship with character art, and we do not plan on living forever. this all sounds like you are projecting some strange philosophy on us. we are strangers to you. please don't comment again unless you have something nice and normal to say...

>makoenergy It's totally unrelated to photography. It's just that when a hobby becomes job, it usually becomes boring.

but if you find your job fun (if you consider it a hobby), then you're having fun. you're not working. it's a toxic mindset to think every hobby-turned-job gets boring so dont push a toxic mindset onto others

makoenergy is right, we're trying to do fulltime art with prints and stuff and it's pretty fun!

Well, long story short, I don't think that those character arts would survive 100 years later regardless of your enjoyings but think that your abstract arts and photography might be able to survive if fortunate. I'm genuinely interested in you guys so I'll bookmark the webpage anyway and if you need some money then if you make a Monero wallet I might donate to you. That's all. See you at the next work.

thanks i guess? it's a weird way to phrase it. we're not doing all this to go down in history - that's just something that would be nice. creating is almost involuntary, it's like breathing - fame and fortune always supercede the true desire behind it. and also, we are not going to do any kind of cryptocurrency lol. if you want to donate, you can do it over ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/manyface

I genuinely think that you can do photography as a job instead of a hobby. But I also understand that if it becomes a job, it would be boring. Have you thought about it?

listen to me man. I promise you nobody gives a flying f word if you think photography is “boring” when done as a profession. stop bringing down other people

yes, actually! we have considered it but we need more practice and better understanding of our camera. but yes, that option is open to us.

It's incredible that you guys only started photography since 2023 and take THOSE photos. You guys really have talents at photography.

thank you so much, that's kind of you to say!

It's nice to hear that you have that mentality. Yes, that's what we should have about art, but unfortunately many "professional" artists gave up that mentality.
manyface 16 hours ago

yes, it’s sad! as artists and art admirers, we should do our best to not foster that mentality in others…

Of course abstract art itself isn't "just background". That's an insult to abstract art. Sorry for my misunderstanding-provoking statements. Also sorry for my misunderstanding that you guys gave up character arts. But I still think that you guys are much better at drawing non-characters and actually make great abstract arts so it feels like a waste of time to draw characters...
manyface 16 hours ago

i don’t think it’s a waste of time, if it’s something we want to be doing at that moment! if it’s fun for us then it doesn’t matter how “good” it is. ideally, we would like to have fun drawing all kinds of things!

as it stands, we do not like our relationship with character art, and we don’t like the culture surrounding character art online. but instead of giving up, we’d like to be able to nourish it and make art that we love, abstract or not. lots of people find joy and fulfilment in drawing characters, and we would like to have that too.

it’s not a waste of time and this is only your opinion; i’m sure i’m not alone in finding their character arts great!

@catso thank you, you are so nice!!! i like your character art too, my fav is the one with naruto and sasuke in a field of sunflowers. it’s clear you love to draw and it makes me happy to look at!!

manyface, all of your art is amazing. I thought my art was a waste of time because I wasn't good at it so I stopped drawing completely. But then it's like "there's only one way to improve anyways" so I'm trying to draw again. It's not a waste of time, actually. It's a form of expression and you improve your skills which each new drawing.

@manyface thank you! that means a lot! i’m sorry you have to deal with this user’s comments, but i really hope it doesn’t hinder the enjoyment of art for any of you

Creating art you like is never a waste of time! Honestly, I think even if you make art and don't like that piece/genre, it still isn't a "waste of time". You are growing and finding what you love. And also, even if nobody else cares about your art, it still isn't a waste of time.

@soulbox thank you!!! your art is never a waste of time, everything you make has value because art is irreplaceably important!! of course every piece helps people improve but honestly what matters more is that you learn and create! please keep drawing!!

manyface 9 hours ago

@catso nah it's not really affecting us, just kind of weird and confusing. thank you for your concern though!

@squidcrusher true facts!! making mistakes is just a way of learning how to not make mistakes... and thank you so much for caring about our artwork!! you're awesome :)

What I thought was that the backgrounds are much better than the characters themselves... so I thought that it was the right decision to give up characters and just drawing backgrounds.
manyface 17 hours ago

okay? i tried to be really nice in the last post but that’s kind of rude for two reasons. firstly, we haven’t given up on drawing characters. and secondly, our abstract art isn’t just “backgrounds”. but you are entitled to your opinion, i guess.

You guys are good at dealing with textures. And this might be rude, but I think it was the right decision to give up character arts. The abstract arts are way better.

maybe not intentioned but this feels kinda mean? regardless of the fact they no longer do character arts, i think those artworks are great too. i love the colour usage and the personal style and flair they injected into those pieces (which you can see in their abstract works too)

firstly, thanks for the compliment! secondly, we still do character stuff… just very sparingly, because we don’t enjoy it as much. i agree with you though - it’s much better to have passion about things! still, the ones displayed in the other art gallery are recent and ones we think are, like, good. we’d like to keep developing those styles!

@catso thank you so much! that means a lot and is very kind. we would like to be able to draw characters better and keep going with that style, so this is nice and encouraging!
