Just a little pro tip to continue my last message: if you're buying a computer with less than $200 to spend, buying a used one off of eBay can allow you to get a REALLY nice machine for a low price without having to do all that configuration to get Linux running since it'll come with parts that are dated but decent and common, and as such said parts will have excellent Linux suppport right out of the box.

I also am really impressed by the little section you had of that cheap chinese mini PC you fixed up and got working with a bunch of commands and patches. I feel like I would have neither the patience nor the intellect to figure all that stuff out . . .
