Personally I prefer Linux Mint MATE which came with MPV pre-installed. Gnome 3 was the greatest mistake since commieism. That stuff about AWS on the ubuntu page is cause Ubuntu makes money from servers rather than as a desktop OS. Also traps are gay. If all you care about is to have the latest stuff install a rolling distro like Arch Linux though it will be harder than installing debian desu desu desu desu desu desu.
