I look forward to seeing your list! my only two suggestions I can think of are any archived page of secretsituation.com (warning, some parts are nsfw. it's about the war in iraq and I think the project is dead now) and (continued)

ok, it's late and I keep messing this up. Sorry, feel free to delete these. But my second suggestion is Olia Lialina's 'My Boyfriend Came Back From the War' (http://www.teleportacia.org/war/). Olia does a lot of great work the early Web and if I remember correctly she played a big part in creating Gifcities!
